Swapping is one of the best ways to make new friends, have fun creatively and get some pretty sweet loot. To help celebrate the release of Fussy Cutters Club I have partnered with Sharon to run an international swap based on projects from the book, Fussy Cutters Club.
Sign Up Period: 7 October 2017 – 11 November 2017
Items to be Mailed: 22 January 2018 – 24 January 2018
The host for this swap is Sharon of @Shoppershaz_Swaphost. I’ve partnered with Sharon because she runs a really great swap. Sharon does everything within her power to make sure that participants have a great swap experience, are matched with a wonderful partner and that no swapper is left behind. Sharon devotes a lot of her time to making sure swaps are really well organised and everyone participates.
As someone who has run swaps previously I can attest to the amount of work involved in making sure a swap is successful for those involved and Sharon does a much better job than I ever did as a swap host.
For this swap you will choose from a selection of the projects from Fussy Cutters Club and make one (or a set) to a high standard and to your partner’s tastes and preferences.
The items eligible for the swap are:
- Nine Patch Potholder (minimum 2) – Page 56 of Fussy Cutters Club
- Superstar Coasters (minimum 4) – Page 61 of Fussy Cutters Club
- 1-2 Super Pouch – Page 68 of Fussy Cutters Club
- An Improvable Dream Pillow Cover (without insert) – Page 75 of Fussy Cutters Club
- Fabric Serenade Mini Quilt – Page 81 of Fussy Cutters Club
- Gaggle of Geese Placemat (minimum 2) – Page 95 of Fussy Cutters Club
- We Are All Connected Mini Quilt – Page 109 of Fussy Cutters Club
- Optional Extra: Hexy Pin-up Pincushion – Page 65 of Fussy Cutters Club
You will need a copy of Fussy Cutters Club to participate in this swap. You can borrow one from your local library, Guild library or click here to find out where you can purchase a copy (both hard copies and eBooks available).
All swappers must have a public and active Instagram account for the duration of the swap. You will need to have a working knowledge of how to use Instagram to participate in the swap. You can find helpful information on installing and using Instagram by clicking here.
You will be required to follow @shoppershaz_swaphost on Instagram to stay up-to-date with swap notifications and check-ins. To help maintain the quality of the pool of swappers there are requirements to check-in at specified times, provide inspiration mosaics for your partner and show examples of your work. This helps the host match you with a partner you’ll (hopefully) love.
The swap will be conducted under the hashtag #FussyCuttersClubSwap. You can use this hashtag to connect with other participants in the swap and see what’s being made. Click here to surf the hashtag.
Swap Entry Fee
To help keep the swap full of dedicated participants and to cover the administrative time of the host there is a USD$4/AUD$5 entry fee. Details on how to pay the entry fee can be found on the swap sign up sheet by clicking here.
To help offset the cost of entry and the cost of needing a book I have partnered with an Australian and US Store to offer you all a discount off the cost of your book. Details are below.
Swap General Information
The Fussy Cutters Club Swap is open to all levels of quilting experience and Sharon will match you with someone of similar ability. If you are a beginner quilter the expectation is that you can stitch, quilt and bind your project nicely. If you are new to Sharon’s swaps she will need to see examples of your sewing on your Instagram feed. (This also helps Sharon match you with a partner of similar aesthetic and fabric loves.)
The swap is International, however you can request a domestic swap partner in your sign up form and Sharon will do her best to match you with a swapper in your country. It is not guaranteed that this can be done in all instances.
Once the swap sign up period has closed (11 November 2017) Sharon will manually go through all the responses and allocate swap partners and contact swappers.
Sharon has a #noquilterleftbehind policy, if you send a swap parcel you will receive a swap parcel. Sharon also utilises the Naughty Swapper List to ensure participants in the swap are committed to the process and deliver quality swap parcels.
To help you get organised for the swap I’ve partnered with some of my trusted sponsors to bring you kits and discounts. I’ll update this information shortly to help you plan.
